Machine description

The Sleurs Composites continuous Filament winding concept represents the latest state of the art machinery. It is equipped to produce pipes and couplings with diameters ranging from DN300 to DN3000 as listed in Table 1. The relatively low capital investment of this equipment will generate a competitive product in the market. It will produce the most excellent products in the most efficient way.

The pipe is produced on a mandrel that is composed of a continuous steel band supported by beams. The beams rotate while the band to moves longitudinally so that the entire mandrel continuously moves in a spiral path toward the end of the machine. The moving steel band is lead off the rotating mandrel and returns through winder shaft to the beginning of the winder.

The Sleurs Composites continuous winding machine is equipped with a revolutionary new mandrel transport system.  Application of this system results in minimum maintenance and considerably longer life of the mandrel band. Also the risk of machine failure during production is considerably reduced.

A pipe wall structure is created by application of chopped roving, sand, hoop roving and resin at various mandrel positions. The actual material application settings depend on the required product specifications. The material consumption is monitored by the central control system.

The winder has two material application zones:

• Liner application zone
• Structural layer application zone
